My Role: Concept, Design, Art Direction

CNN brought in Piers Morgan to replace Larry King after his retirement and was looking for a launch campaign that communicated the “unfiltered” way with words Piers has. The concept needed to work across multiple platforms including on-air, print, OOH, and web.

My first concept was to create an entire environment out of typography using words that describe Piers’ brutally honest style, putting him at the center of it all.

The second direction is based on the idea of a “storm of words”. A quiet city street is suddenly engulfed in a hurricane-like whirlwind of debris with typography describing Piers. When the storm has passed and everything settles, all that is left is Piers standing alone on the street.
