My Role: Concept, Design, Art Direction
DIRECTV wanted to redesign their on-air promo package in a way that would make all of their promos feel premium and visually consistent. Their package at the time left too much visual freedom to all of the regional satellite providers and resulted in their brand feeling different from region to region. They needed a design that would create a unified brand across all platforms and they wanted it to be based on the DIRECTV logo.
My solution was to create a deep 3 dimensional structure within the DIRECTV logo which the camera could move into and out of. This structure then provides the visual backdrop for things like endpages and print ads, where any provider could then use the toolkit to customize their particular ad. The design provides a strict yet versatile system for typography which creates consistency across all advertising.
